Influence the future of skills in your local area

From 1st October Business West will be developing new Local Skills Improvement plans (LSIPs) for:
- The West of England and North Somerset
- Swindon and Wiltshire
- Gloucestershire
- Somerset (in partnership with Somerset Chamber of Commerce)
Funded by the Department for Education, Local Skills Improvement Plans are employer-led initiatives that align post-16 technical education and training with the needs of local employers and economies.
They offer a direct route for businesses to become more involved in the planning, design and delivery of local education and training through discussions, events, and implementation of the priorities set out in the plans.
Matt Tudge, Head of Skills at Business West said, “We want to speak to any size of businesses to understand more about your skills now and into the future. Your collaboration, thoughts and ideas will help to shape the next three years of skills activity in the local area. Your views on recruitment, reskilling and training are important and vital to our research.”
The LSIP team will soon be releasing more information about how you can get involved, but in the meantime, there is the opportunity to chat 1-2-1 with a Business Skills Advisor and receive tailored support on your specific skills needs.
Matt continued, “During the previous LSIPs we engaged with 629 businesses, and we’d love to talk with you, too. Whether you have ideas, questions, or feedback, let’s work together to drive progress in your local area. You can contact us here.”
Over the next six-months, the current LSIPs will continue as normal, including the Devon and Somerset LSIP run by Devon Chamber and Somerset Chamber.
