Meet the International Trade team - October 2025

This autumn, we’re shining a spotlight on two fantastic members of our International Trade team — one who’s a familiar face and one who we imported from France a few years ago!
Deborah (Deb) Bertino
Bonjour, moi c’est Deborah! I am the Frenchie of the team. I'm from the Alps but don’t ask me if I am into skiing. Ohlala, it’s too cold for me! I have worked for the great International Trade department for almost four years. I am multitasking. I can issue Carnets, Certificates of Origin and deal with Carnet claims and I like that. I also really like my wonderful team, but I'm sure it's the same for you! Isn’t it?
Lucy Fletcher
"After working for the Events and Workspace team at Business West I was looking for a new challenge once my daughter started nursery, so when an opportunity came up to join the International Trade team I jumped at the chance and have been with the team for a year in November. I currently focus on issuing Certificates of Origin and EUR1 documents, but I am now also training to issue Carnets, which I’m really excited about.”
Volunteering – Cleaning Up Our Act
At Business West, every colleague is given two volunteering days each year to support a charity or community project of their choice.
In September, Patrick Shean from the Carnet team spent his day volunteering with the Marine Conservation Society on a beach clean in Portishead.
"It's amazing that from a distance when you look at a beach everything looks clean but once you start to really look hard you do end up coming across things. We found sweet wrappers, glass, an unopened bottle of mouthwash and a chocolate coin! The weather held out, and it was a fun, eye-opening day."
All the data collected is vital for helping to keep our beaches clean.
