Aneta is a Marketing Executive at Business West. She's responsible for circulating relevant news and events about the LSIP project as well as sharing opportunities for businesses in the West of England, Gloucestershire and Swindon and Wiltshire to engage with the project and be given a platform to voice their future workforce and business growth requirements.

We chatted with Aneta to learn more about her background, her role at Business West, and what her perfect Sunday would look like.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your career background?

I came to Cardiff to study Management and Marketing around 7 years ago. After graduating, I worked in sales for two years. In November 2022, I joined the Local Skills Improvement Plan team at Business West as a Marketing Executive.

What is your favourite aspect of your role?

There are always many different projects happening, so my job is never stereotypical. I work with different platforms and programmes, so I’m learning something new and exploring different corners of marketing regularly. Being part of two teams (marketing and LSIP) means I have the opportunity to work alongside many talented colleagues who are not only great at their jobs but also wonderful people.

What is the most challenging aspect of your role?

It's a busy role so organising and keeping on top of tasks can be challenging. Also finding the right messaging to get businesses to understand the benefits of the Local Skills Improvement Plans and why they should talk to and engage with us.  

What does a typical week look like for you?

My week typically begins with organising our communications and social media planners to ensure I’m prepared for the upcoming week. Then I’m usually spending a lot of time building promotional emails, putting together social media posts and creating graphics that are needed. However, as I mentioned, every week brings its own set of tasks and challenges, so the workload varies.

How can businesses get involved with the LSIPs?

There are lots of ways you can get involved! You can book a discussion with one of our Business Engagement Executives. They run through a set of questions to guide the discussion that helps us get a full picture of the challenges you face. They also offer a bespoke signposting service to point you in the direction of training and support available for your business based around the priorities you discuss.  

We also have our LSIP Skills Advisor, who can work with you one-on-one, looking at skills and workforce development planning and helping you navigate the sometimes-complicated skills landscape.

Tell us about your perfect Sunday – what would it involve?

Waking up without an alarm, going to a local market for breakfast, and spending the afternoon on a beach with a drink in hand. Then finish the day with a takeaway in a bed while watching Dirty Dancing.
