ATA Carnet Case Study Pro-Logist | Business West
When it comes to international shows and events, businesses often face the challenge of moving valuable goods across borders without unnecessary costs or delays. That’s where ATA Carnets come in – often described as a “passport for goods,” they allow items to be temporarily exported and re-imported without duties or complex customs procedures.
Pro-Logist knows this only too well. With a reputation for delivering tailored, seamless solutions for their discerning clients, the team turned to Business West for ATA Carnets to support their international projects. What began as a conversation at a networking event has grown into a strong working relationship – one built on shared values of compliance, innovation and outstanding customer service.
Could you tell us a bit about Pro-Logist and what your role entails?
Pro-Logist is a boutique logistics provider specialising in the global transportation of high-value luxury vehicles and classic cars. We deliver tailored solutions, particularly in air freight, to ensure seamless transport of cars. My role as Head of Operations is to oversee the entire transport chain, selecting and vetting premium partners to collaborate with in order to provide the highest service levels. Along with our Managing Director, Silvia Tarchi, and New Business Development Manager, Hanna Wein, we take on complex projects and provide bespoke solutions for our discerning clients.

Why do you use ATA Carnets?
Many of our clients, whether they are manufacturers, businesses or private individuals, participate in events worldwide to showcase their stunning vehicles and reach their target audiences. For many of these projects, the ATA Carnet proves to be an excellent solution, acting like a passport that permits our clients' cars to travel to multiple countries for various shows without complicated customs procedures. This saves our clients considerable time, reduces administrative burdens, and also lowers costs.
Why do you apply for them at Business West?
Business West offers more than a standard document application service - they provide a comprehensive solution to our UK Customs needs. Whether it be ATA Carnets, Customs entries, or simply needing Customs advice for a challenging project we are working on, Business West has a skilled team on hand. Their extensive knowledge of ATA carnets and complex customs procedures immediately impressed us. We also relate to their progressive and solution-oriented approach, always seeking to streamline manual processes, evident in their efforts to digitise ATA carnets and provide step-by-step guidance.
Was the ATA Carnet application process what you expected?
Absolutely - the process is quick and efficient. Business West offers videos guiding users through each step of the process, ensuring nothing is missed. Their team will then quickly reach out if they require any further clarity about an application.
What is the easiest part of the ATA Carnet application?
The portal is self-explanatory and is straight forward to use, even for first time users. Along with the accompanying guide video, applying for an ATA Carnet can be done in only a few quick steps. This allows us to manage tight deadlines and offer a flexible turnaround time for our clients.
What other plans do you have to temporarily export?
We specialise in the temporary import and export of cars, transporting them worldwide throughout the year. Our events calendar is particularly busy during the summer months, as our clients showcase their beautiful vehicles in warmer climates. Notably, Monterey Car Week is our busiest event each year, during which we send numerous vehicles for our clients to California to participate in a series of prestigious events, culminating in the renowned Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach. While summer is vibrant, we also look forward to exciting winter events—one of our favourites being the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, alongside the Concours of Bahrain, for which we have some fabulous cars lined up for shipping this year. Additionally, early next year, we will return to The ICE in St Moritz, which is a fantastic event to be a part of.
Do you have any advice for other companies looking to temporarily take their goods abroad?
My advice would be to partner with an experienced forwarder, such as Pro-Logist, to ensure you are meeting Customs requirements in the destination countries. Reviewing legislation and limitations for imports can be incredibly daunting, therefore working closely with a knowledgeable logistics partner can put you at ease and free up your precious time.
Finally, in April 2026, Digital or eATA Carnets will be live. Are you aware of Digital Carnets, and have you thought about using them?
We will absolutely be using these! We are excited to trial this beforehand, so we are experts in eATA Carnets when they are rolled out.
Working with Pro-Logist has been a real partnership – combining their expertise in moving high-value vehicles with our knowledge of ATA Carnets and customs processes. Together, we’ve helped their clients showcase cars at some of the world’s most prestigious events, without the added stress of customs barriers. As the logistics world evolves, and with Digital Carnets just around the corner, we look forward to supporting Pro-Logist on the next stage of their journey.
If your business is looking to take goods overseas for exhibitions, trade shows or events, our ATA Carnet team is here to make the process simple, compliant and stress-free.
