Guide to listing a toolkit on your ATA Carnet general list

How to list a toolkit on your ATA Carnet

Listing a toolkit can cause some confusion for first-time Carnet applicants. This is because the rules differ for toolkits depending on how much they are worth.

REMEMBER: toolkits must only be comprised of non-electrical hand tools. All electrical tools must be listed on separate lines on your list.

If your toolkit costs £150 or less:

You do not need to specify the number of pieces in the list, but you do need to specify the weight. The toolkit listing should look like this:

If your toolkit costs more than £150:

You need to specify both the weight of the toolkit and the number of pieces within it. The toolkit listing should therefore look like this:

We always recommend that you list the total weight (the sum of all item weights) at the bottom of the list as a heading. This is why we ask you to input the weight of the toolkit in the ‘item description’ column, rather than in the ‘weight’ column.
