Local Skills Improvement Plan

Gloucestershire LSIP

The Gloucestershire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) is led by Business West Chambers of Commerce and funded by UK government.

What is a Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP)?

The Gloucestershire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) is led by Business West Chambers of Commerce and funded by UK government.

A Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) is a research project that aims to align post-16 technical education and training with the needs of local employers.

Developed by Employer Representative Bodies (ERBs), such as Business West, LSIPs gather research on business needs and set actionable priorities.

These priorities aim to enhance collaboration between employers, education, training providers, and stakeholders to better prepare employees for the workforce..

Business West runs the Local Skills Improvement Plan for Gloucestershire, which aims to:

  • Bring employers, colleges, independent training providers, and other local stakeholders together.

  • Set out the key changes needed to make technical skills training more responsive to employers’ skills needs.

  • Tailor education and training provision to the challenges and opportunities most relevant to the local area.

  • Address learner demand and make meaningful collaborative change

Impact Dashboard

Over the past three years, we have been working with further education and training providers, employers, industry bodies, local authorities and other partners to set out the key priorities and changes needed in the area to ensure post-16 technical education and training better aligns with business needs.

We have created an impact dashboard for Gloucestershire including interactive dashboards, roadmap activities, case studies and resources, all of which highlight the impact of the LSIPs to date.
