We interviewed Aisha Stewart, who is our Net Zero Business Advisor, to find out more about her and the work she does to support local businesses on their Carbon Reduction journey.

Having grown up in Toronto, Aisha has been interested in climate change and sustainability from a young age, which helped her make the decision to study for a Bachelors in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo in Canada. She furthered her expertise in this field by obtaining a Certificate in Sustainability and Behaviour Change from the University of California in San Diego.

After completing her education, she set her sights on the bustling city of Bristol. It seemed like a perfect fit as she would be close to family and have the chance to discover a new and exciting city with countless places to eat, socialise and explore.

Prior to joining Business West last May, Aisha worked as a Sustainability Advisor at Wessex Water, where she coordinated action across the business to deliver their Net Zero roadmap and led the delivery of a company-wide single use plastic reduction initiative and tree planting commitment. She also has experience working for Bristol City Council on domestic energy efficiency projects.

Aisha offers support through our Aiming for Net Zero workshops

Aisha now uses her passion and experience for sustainability and net zero to help support other businesses in the area to reduce their environmental impact. This involves delivering our Aiming for Net Zero workshops and providing one-to-one support to SME businesses.

As part of our net zero support I deliver our Aiming for Net Zero workshops, which provide businesses with the foundational knowledge to understand how climate change could impact their business, how to build their carbon footprint, and what steps they can take to reduce their carbon emissions.

Beyond the workshops, I provide one-to-one support to businesses to advise them further on their net zero journey, after the workshop.

We have multiple half-day Aiming for Net Zero virtual workshops taking place throughout the year, which provide SME businesses with the foundational knowledge to understand net zero, and what steps they can take to reduce their carbon emissions.

The workshop covers why net zero is relevant for your business, what first steps you can be taking on your carbon reduction journey, and importantly, understanding how much carbon your business is emitting and identifying opportunities for reduction. The objective of this course is to provide an introduction to net zero and give attendees the tools and knowledge to lead their business's carbon reduction journey.

Our Net Zero team also run ‘Lunch and Learn’ webinars, which are one-hour events that focus on a particular topic relating to net zero.

Our previous events have focused on electric vehicles, B Corp, offsetting and greening your supply chain. The sessions include a variety of speakers that provide their own insight and experience of the topic.
