International markets can offer significant opportunities, but political change, new regulations and global disruption can make trading overseas feel increasingly complex.
Through Business West and the British Chambers of Commerce network, businesses can now access support from the Diplomatic Advisory Hub - a joint initiative from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the British Chambers of Commerce.
The Hub gives SMEs access to diplomatic expertise, geopolitical insight and practical guidance to help them make more informed decisions about international trade.
For Business West customers, this could mean gaining a clearer understanding of developments in an existing export market, assessing the risks and opportunities in a new country, or finding the right government support when an international issue affects your business.
The Hub also gives businesses a stronger voice. The experiences and challenges shared by UK companies are fed back to diplomats and government departments, helping to inform policy and overseas trade support.
How the Hub can support your business

The Diplomatic Advisory Hub complements the practical support available from Business West’s International Trade team. While our specialists can help with areas such as customs, export documentation, Free Trade Agreements and export compliance, the Hub can provide additional insight into the wider political and economic environment in which your business is operating.

The latest UK ONS trade figures present a mixed picture for exporters. While the value of goods exports increased during the second quarter of 2026, export volumes fell sharply in June and have shown little sustained growth over the past three years.
